I started Refined Finishes in 1997, specializing in the design and application of custom wall finishes. These included venetian plaster, glazing, metal and aged effects for both residential and commercial clients. From this experience I developed a natural line of paints that are not only beautiful but are also designed with the earth in mind. Each collection is inspired from nature in its own way such as a piece of beach glass, a fallen leaf or from a time period reminiscent of the past. I also wanted to do my part to provide products that are safe for people and the environment. Therefore, all Refined Finishes paints are formulated with no VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). Just like in nature, our colors are made up of many hues, which help to increase their luminosity, depth and complexity. I started with 3 paint collections, one inspired by a natural fiber textile collection, one with a vintage feel, and one with an artist’s point of view. Each has its own unique but well defined color palette. Think sophisticated country life, vintage, mid-century modern, contemporary, eclectic or beachside. Each evokes a mood, a certain sense of comfort or a fantasy come true. The first collection was developed in collaboration with Bainbridge Blues Textiles. A natural textile collection designed on Bainbridge Island and woven in Italy. The second collection takes its inspiration from the vintage look and feel of Seabold Vintage Market. And the last collection is inspired by my own artistic sensibilities. To help you find your perfect colors, I have color cards and color pots you can purchase for a small fee. I encourage you to use these color aids as computer monitors cannot accurately reproduce the true colors of the paint. So, choose a color and have some fun.
