Marmorino is an authentic marble product that combines "old-world" tradition and the ease of modern plastering to create the impressive look and feel of solid marble. This product achieves the look of marble without the seams or the massive weight. Marmorino is breathable; it can take in moisture and release it just like stone so there is no effect to structure, color, or adherence of the material. Marmorino is available in four grains: a highly polished marble look, a lightly polished and smooth surface, a matte finish, or a rough, antiqued effect. The final appearance depends on the artisan.
This ageless luxury product can be finished in a multitude of ways:
• with soapstone or wax for a translucent sheen.
• with the addition of metallic or pearlescent powders for a subtly shimmering finish that shifts with the light.
• in three-dimensional company logos or patterns for a feeling of depth.
• with powdered pigments for rich tonal variations of color.
• with highlighted recesses for a pitted look.

Patterns in raked plaster can be regular and geometric or random in spacing, creating a strong directional effect. Textures of the raised lines, thick or thin, change as light plays on the surface throughout the day. Raked plaster is a powerful finish, demanding attention and interest.
• Special tools create many diverse striations.
• White on white grainy texture with a matte finish generates a strong sculptural effect.
• Pigments and powders washed across the surface enhance the textural contrast.

Glazes are rich, sleek, transparent coatings. Glazed finishes offer layers of one translucent color or multiple colors for a feeling of depth. They soften and enrich the colors beneath when they are applied over painted surfaces. Glazes are versatile and many artistic, innovative application techniques can be used to create a myriad of finishes.
• Acrylic glazes over gesso give an Impressionist effect.
• Glazes applied to wood walls and ceilings produce a weathered or washed look to soften or update a room.
• Finishes are available in water-based or oil-based glazes.

"Even in a state of disrepair, a limewashed (wall) has something poetic about it...."
Limewash is a mysterious product with often unpredictable results that make it unique from all other paints. Lime-based coating has been used for thousands of years around the world. The"bloom" from lime produces a soft, natural mottling that is commonly imitated in glazes.
"Limewash colors are hauntingly beautiful...."
With each additional layer, the colors grow richer and more complex. Layers of limewash can produce sumptuous colors from deep earth tones to vibrant tropicals.

Both gilding and metal patinas are very old techniques revived for today's decor. Patinas add the "appearance of something grown beautiful especially with age or use." We use gilding to accent and to add luxury. Metal leafing on any surface creates lustre and richness. This process gives a room warmth and a one-of-a-kind focal point. Now, modern composition foils provide an affordable alternative to real gold and silver. Because gilding is suitable to coat surfaces (including wood, glass, plaster, metal) it offers uncoventional and unique applications.
• Gilding on walls and ceilings create the soft, luminescent effect of an aged patina or a bold, bright statement.
• The bright gleam of leaf and the soft, rich bloom of powders enhance detailed moulding or highlight the basic lines of a treasured piece of furniture.
• Shimmering gold leaf illuminates a wall niche.
Gilded accents on three dimensional accents and logos bring opulence and warmth.
• Accent walls can be finished in a delicious metallic paint.
Gilding can create a checkerboard on your ceiling or transform a piece of wood into an unusual sculpture.
• Blue and green patinas beautifully age bronze and copper.
• Patinas can be used to create a rust or verdigris railing in the garden.

At Refined Finishes, our experience and extensive knowledge of many products benefits you. We offer almost every aging process from crackled paint and distressed finishes to plasters over worn linen or burlap.
• The embedded, dimensional use of glazes produces the look and feel of an old, pitted, stone wall or a water-stained garden wall.
• Versatile polymer plasters can make your wine cellar appear as though it was imported directly from the hills of the French countryside.
• We can plaster and glaze over your wallpaper in a random manner reminiscent of an old European farmhouse.
• Paints and glazes create the look of an old tin ceiling or a verdigris wainscoting.

Stenciling in relief takes the essentially simple but versatile decorating tool of a stencil to a whole new level. Relief stenciling can be done in any plaster. In addition to the homespun simplicity of stencils, bold blocks of pattern offer elegance and vitality to an empty space.
• The artistic use of glazes and rough plasters can transform an ordinary room into a garden room, wine cellar, or cozy retreat.
• Embossed wallpaper and linoleum wallcoverings are an alternative to plaster that add distinction and refinement to Victorian or Traditional homes.
